Lucille L Simonds was born September 11, 1933 in Meridian, MS to the late George Edward Lemon and Manilla Matthew. Lucille departed this life on August 19, 2023.t
Lucille spent the first two years of her life in Noxubee County and the next 16 years in Meridian, MS. where she graduated Valedictorian from T.J. Harris High School. Lucille’s work history included Co-Op Glove Industries in Shuqualak, MS. She retired from Prairie Opportunity Inc., in Starkville Ms. as a certified school teacher and bus driver.
Lucille was a devoted, nurturing, praying mother. She introduced her children to Christ while they were young. She was a strong woman of God, committed to her faith, mission and ministry of helping and caring of others. She loved the students she taught while at the Head Start. She continued to be well respected in this community and surrounding communities until the end of her life. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and eventually joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member in the church serving as the Secretary and teacher. She truly Loved the Lord which she demonstrated in her daily prayers and reading Gods Word.
Lucille loved family; friends, reading, puzzles, and watching Westerns & NCIS. (lol) She loved her children and grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda C Washington.

Lucille grandchildren; Jamila, Shan’e, Jermaine (deceased), Ebony, Jinesha, Rafael, Gabrielle, LaTisha, Javonta, Devon, Montez (deceased), Kayalynn, Tremonsha, Tristan, Anthony, Willie, Tyler, Allyse, 22 great-grandchildren; brother Huey Lemon- Meridian, MS, Sister Imogene Newman (Arizona), Gloria Hudson- Omaha, NE.
