We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. William Lloyd Payton 68,of Shuqualak,MS on November 19, 2021 arrangement Saturday December 4,2021 2pm William Lloyd “Steele Bill” Payton was born December 3rd, 1952 to the late Johnny and Annie Payton.
He confessed in Christ at an early age and became a member of Second Running Water Baptist Church of Shuqualak, MS.
William attended Mississippi Valley State University.
William was the owner of Payton Express World Class. He enjoyed singing, joking, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and just being the life of the party. He was an R&B Soul singer known as “Steel Bill”. William was the songwriter for Malco Records for many years.He
was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.
Early in life he married Marilyn Payton and later remarried Mitchlyn Gentry.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Johnny and Annie Payton. His grandmother Velma Payton. His siblings: Johnny Roy Payton, Betty Payton, Catherine Russell, Tina Brown, Billy Payton.
With love ones by his side, William was called home November 17th, 2021.
He leaves to cherish his memories six children Tammy King of St. Louis, MO, William J. Payton of Chicago, IL, Kristina Payton of Chicago, IL, Loukesha Pitts of Chicago, IL, Kim and Kevin Payton both of Scooba, MS. Sisters and Brothers: Sandra Hammack(Dewayne) of Shuqualak, MS, Dorothy Lemon of Bunnell, FL, Johnny H. Payton of Chicago, IL, Novontny Payton(Lisa) of Chicago, IL, and Edward Bond of Chicago, IL, twelve grandchildren
